Smcfancontrol 2.4 download9/10/2023 ![]() In my case I find it unnecessary as I am not pushing my machine that hard. Some people will create a higher fan speed setting where you can just set to the high speeds temporarily during extreme use. I leave them run at these speeds all the time. My default fan speeds(May be different from yours I'm not sure): One of my main concerns was to get my Hard drive temp to stay below 50C. Keep in mind since you have the 2.4GHz your temps may vary from mine so you'll just have to test it out on your own see what kind of results you get. I already posted what I had my fans speeds set to in my previous post but I've actually bumped up my HDD fan a bit since then. Just bump them up a couple hundred rpm at a time test it for a while and see how it works for you. ![]() I'd say only increase the fans as much as you need to. Then you can decide what temps you'd like to try and keep it running at. This is why it's important to take note of your temps over a period of time. Heavy Use(These temps are what had me concerned) Here are my temps before I installed SMCFanControl Though you posted higher temps early for your HD and CPU. Under 50C for most the components is good. Temps increased fans did not.Īnyway from what I have seen your temps look to be perfectly fine. From my experience with my iMac that never happened. The fans are supposed to increase speed as the machine gets hot. However other components may not have heat safety. Your machine will go into a forced sleep mode if the processor ever reaches 100C. The processor has a safety shut down at 100C. The only thing we have to go by are comparisons of other iMacs and the possibility of looking up individual component manufacture specs like for the hard drive and CPU. No one really knows what temps are considered normal or excessive as Apple does not provide this kind of information. Besides it's a Mac and up until Apple switched to Intel we didn't even had the ability to monitor hardware temps. Mind you, these are "idle" temps.įirst of all if your machine is running ok and not shutting down then you don't have to worry so much. You probably have to un-install this before you can run the SMCFanControl. The error message from SMCFanControl is because you have this widget installed. Hmm that must be more like 699, 1200, and 1200 as that should be the default speeds. I also have installed the "Fans" widget, showing the 3 iMac fans numbers reading 6, 12 & 12 on the three. My temps (according to the temperature monitor widget) are:
